Premium Books on Special Porsche Models
Mäder Morse Field Recordings publishes meticulously researched reference books dedicated to rare and significant Porsche models. However, the publisher's expertise extends beyond Porsche, as demonstrated by its publications covering iconic sports cars from manufacturers such as Aston Martin and BMW. The goal of every book is simple: to provide the most comprehensive and authoritative resource available, leaving no question unanswered.
Mäder Morse Field Recordings was founded by Christoph Mäder, an acclaimed automotive author, editor, and publisher who has been responsible for highly regarded titles including Carrera RS, Carrera 2.7 MFI, 911R, and 993 GT2. Some of these projects he authored, others he published, and many he both wrote and produced.
Co-founder Kerry Morse has worked as a motorsport journalist for decades. The term Field Recordings originates from journalism and describes the practice of capturing the atmosphere of a particular scene directly in the field using microphones and portable recording equipment. Inspired by this concept, Christoph Mäder and Kerry Morse chose the name for their publishing house, which specializes in producing premium automotive books focused on sports cars and, in particular, historic and collectible Porsche models.
Limited Editions
All titles offered through the Mäder Morse Field Recordings online shop are strictly limited and individually numbered editions. As a result, several books have already sold out, including the highly sought-after Porsche 993 GT2 and Carrera 2.7 MFI volumes. The French and Italian editions of the Carrera RS book are completely sold out, as are selected color variants of the current 964 Carrera RS publication.
Matching Numbers
The term Matching Numbers refers to a vehicle whose original factory-installed components—most notably the engine, transmission, and body shell—still correspond to the serial numbers recorded in the manufacturer's production records.
As all Porsche books by Christoph Mäder are individually numbered, collectors have the opportunity to request a book number that corresponds with the chassis number of their own vehicle. With each new publication, the processes behind our numbered limited editions are further refined to give as many collectors as possible the chance to secure their preferred copy. Whenever feasible, requests for specific edition numbers—including those inspired by the Matching Numbers concept—are taken into consideration.
Production numbers Carrera RS
The internet is full of conflicting production figures and vehicle data. Every Field Recordings book includes comprehensive chassis number documentation for the respective model, providing a level of accuracy that goes far beyond online speculation, crowd-sourced information, or AI-generated estimates.
When it comes to counting production numbers and documenting surviving vehicles, nothing replaces careful research, verified records, and original source material such as build sheets or internal lists. That commitment to accuracy is at the heart of every Field Recordings publication.
Printing: Made in Germany
Every Porsche book designed or authored by Christoph Mäder has been printed in Germany. Production typically utilizes high-quality four-color offset printing, often enhanced with special spot colors to achieve exceptional visual quality.
The current 964 Carrera RS book features an innovative hybrid printing process. While most of the volume was produced using offset printing, a dedicated 16-page section was digitally printed and subsequently integrated into the book block during binding. Additional finishing techniques, including selective varnishes and embossing, further enhance the premium character of each publication.
Bespoke Bookbinding
Mäder Morse Field Recordings books are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, premium materials, and attention to detail. Each title receives a bespoke design concept inspired by the specific vehicle model it documents.
For example, the Porsche 911R book features the model's signature racing stripes as inlaid elements within a deeply embossed slipcase. The cover design references the iconic houndstooth seat fabric found in the original cars, recreated through an elaborate textured lamination process.
Traditional craftsmanship and hand-finished details remain integral components of every publication, resulting in collectible books that reflect the same dedication to quality found in the cars themselves.
